Her i år 2010 kan The Bacon Brothers fejre bandets eksitstens gennem 15 år.

Cy Curnin Biography

For over 25 years, Cy Curnin has been connecting with audiences through his music.  Known for evocative lyrics and distinctive vocals, he developed a solid reputation in modern rock circles as the lead singer of The Fixx.  In recent years, Cy has also carved out a solo career that has produced a number of CDs, including Mayfly (2005), The Returning Sun (2007) and his current release, Solar Minimum.

Born and raised in England, Cy had been singing in various bands around London when he met Adam Woods and they began to put together their own group, placing ads in local newspapers.  Following the addition of guitarist Jamie West-Oram and Rupert Greenall on keyboards, The Fixx were signed to MCA and soon became an early staple on MTV through a string of thought-provoking tracks (" Red Skies,” "One Thing Leads to Another," "Saved By Zero," etc.) that generated platinum album sales. The band continues to attract new fans through the release of new material, regular airplay on classic rock radio and a formidable touring schedule.

Away from the road, Curnin has cultivated a fascinating life with his family in rural France. Mixing old world techniques with modern green practices, Cy and his wife operate an inn on a self-sustaining farm that includes livestock and an organic garden. Cy is keenly aware of how important it is to make a positive contribution on the planet, to give more than one takes away. He is currently overseeing the renovation of a barn into a special event space that he hopes to use for Internet broadcasts. Cy has also created a studio on the property to facilitate his songwriting and recording.

Curnin stays busy writing screenplays and developing television projects. In addition to self-releasing his own music, Cy has a podcast on iTunes and is directly involved in other business matters, directly overseeing cycurnin.com and the design and production of his merchandise.

In 2007, Cy became involved with the Love Hope Strength Foundation (LHSF), a musically-based cancer charity that celebrates survival and raises money to improve treatment facilities around the world. Cy has joined other musicians, seasoned climbers and cancer survivors in treks to perform fundraising concerts at the base camp of Mount Everest, Machu Picchu and Pikes Peak.  In the fall of 2009, their destination is Kilimanjaro.

His new CD "Solar Minimum," is his most personal and intimate production to date. Whereas early Fixx songs always grabbed the listener by the scruff and tried to whip him into shape, the songs on "Solar Minimum" seduce the brain with gentle piano chords, lilting strings, and conversational melodies that unfold at their own pace.

While such an approach results in an album less immediately accessible, the overall experience may be more gratifying as a whole. Tracks like "Other Side of the Story," "Sail," and "Better Luck Next Time" find Curnin in reflective mode. A modern-day troubadour on an endless mystical search for the meaning of "Life".
